Faculty of Engineering
The construction of the Faculty of Engineering project began on 20th January 2016. Construction is currently progressing smoothly.
The Construction competition tender has been announced in May 2015.
The design of the new facilities of the Faculty of Engineering is the outcome of an international design competition which was conducted by the University of Cyprus in 2010. The pivotal aim of the Faculty of Engineering is to become a vital scientific and technological constituent of the University of Cyprus, qualifying and responding to the demands of the most modern research centres engaged in innovation and applied technologies.
Former Pedagogic Academy (Academia Campus) anti-seismic upgrade and renovation - Phase A
The University of Cyprus retains a secondary Campus on the former Pedagogic Academy site named for short 'Academia Campus'.
Most of the buildings on UCY Academia Campus were built in the decade of 1950-1960. Some of them were built at later stages but seismic
and energy efficiency upgrading was judged necessary for almost all examined buildings.
The assessment study of the buildings' current situation, the redesign and the final design was completed in 2015.
The Construction competition tender has been announced in May 2015 and tenders are expected to be submitted in autumn 2015.
The overall objective of the above mentioned international Competition is to acquire the services of expert Consultants who will propose and assist the University of Cyprus decision making process, on issues regarding the vision, further development and projection in the future of the existing Campus Master Plan and the Estate Strategy of the University of Cyprus within a demanding and rapidly changing context.
The Competition was organized in two (2) stages. During Stage A, nine (9) entries were submitted of which four (4) qualified. In October 2013, Stage B of the competition was announced and the four successful Stage A candidates were invited to participate.
The Contract has been awarded in January 2015 to a consortium of Consultants which is lead by Architects Design Partnership (ADP) LLP. The University is looking forward to a fruitful collaboration with ADP which will project UCY aspirations and needs in the next decade.
named 'Phaethon' of a total capacity of 395 kW at a focal point on the western entry of UCY Campus.
The opening of 'Phaethon' and the inauguration of its operation took place on 24 February 2015.

the project entailed the installation of photovoltaic elements on the roof of the Council Senate 'Anastasios G. Leventis' building and the roofs of the Social Facilities complex.
The overall PV system is expected to produce 550.000 KWh per year which corresponds to a savings of 420 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The project has been co-financed by the EU Structural and Cohesion Funds and fulfils the policy targets of the University of Cyprus for energy savings and the exploitation of renewable sources of energy.
The Contract for the Provision of Services by Consultants for the project has been signed in July 2014 between the University of Cyprus and Miltiades Katsaros on behalf of the successful Team of Architects; Miltiades Katsaros, Nikolas Theotokis, Georgios Papayianopoulos, Dimitrios Christovasilis, Apostolos Goulas.
