The University of Cyprus, through the Campus Development Office, in the period of June 1998 – October 1998, promoted and completed an International Architectural Competition of one stage, which aimed in the selection and appointment of qualified Architects and Consultants for the design and supervision of the Building Facilities of Student Residences – Phase 1 project at UCY Athalassa Campus.

 

At this Competition seventeen (17) design proposals were submitted by Architects and Consultants. These were adjudicated by a Jury of experts which granted three Prizes, two Honourable Mentions and one Special Honourable Mention for innovative proposals for energy management and bioclimatic design.

 

 

The following Awards were awarded at a ceremony which took place at the University.

 

1st Prize	CHRYSANTHOS CHRYSANTHOU + HERACLES PAPACHRISTOU
2nd Prize	GEORGE PAROUTES – GEORGE GEORGIOU – ΕLENA PAROUTE – MARIA CHARALAMBIDOU
3rd Prize	LOUIS LOIZOU
1st Honourable Mention	ΕLEFTHERIA SERGIDOU + VASILIS PASIOURDIDES (In cooperation with SOUZANA ANTONAKAKI + DEMETRES ANTONAKAKIS)
2nd Honourable Mention	ANDREAS VARDAS (In cooperation with ALEXANDROS IERIDES + ESCAPE SPHERE-VIENNA)
Special  Honourable Mention	CHRYSANTHOS CHRYSANTHOU + HERACLES PAPACHRISTOU

The role of the Secretary of the Jury was undertaken by Philippos Ioannou, Architect of the Campus Development Office / Technical Services.

 

 

The Competition documents for both of the Architectural Competition stages were under the responsibility of Philippos Ioannou, Architect of the University of Cyprus Campus Development Office.
