The University of Cyprus, through the Campus Development Office, in the period of September 2009 – December 2010 promoted and completed an International Architectural Competition of two stages, which aimed in the selection and appointment of qualified Architects and Consultants for the design and supervision of the Faculty of Engineering Building Facilities project at UCY Athalassa Campus.

 

 

At the Prequalification Stage thirty (30) teams expressed interest to participate in the Competition, twenty seven (27) of which qualified and were invited to participate in the second stage which entailed the submission of design proposals anonymously.

 

 

At Stage B, eighteen (18) design proposals were submitted by Architects and Consultants from Greece, England, Spain, Italy and Cyprus. These were adjudicated by a Jury of experts which granted three Prizes and two Honourable Mentions.

 

 

The following Awards were awarded at a ceremony which took place on the 22nd of December 2010 at the University House on UCY Athalassa Campus.

 

1st Prize			CHRYSANTHOU – KOTSIOPOULOS – PAPACHRISTOU
2nd Prize			IGNACIO GARAI ZABALA (IDOM)
3rd Prize			ALEXANDROS GAVRIELIDES + ALEXANDROS N. TOMBAZIS
Honourable Mention			BETAPLAN – XENOPOULOS & HADJINICOLAOU
Honourable Mention			CONSTANTINOS MARATHEFTIS
