The University of Cyprus, through the Campus Development Office, in the period of January 1998 – May 1998, promoted and completed an International Architectural Competition of one stage, which aimed in the selection and appointment of qualified Architects and Consultants for the design and supervision of the Building Facilities of Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences project at UCY Athalassa Campus. The original title of the Architectural Competition was "Architectural Competition for Building Facilities of Faculty of Sciences and Technology"

 

At this Competition seventeen (17) design proposals were submitted by Architects and Consultants. These were adjudicated by a Jury of experts which granted three Prizes, two Honourable Mentions and one Special Prize for innovative proposals on energy management and bioclimatic design.

 

 

The following Awards were awarded at a ceremony which took place at the University.

2nd Prize	CONSTANTINOS MARATHEFTIS + GIANNI TREVISAN

1st Honourable Mention	MARIA AKKELIDOU - HADJISOTERIOU, DEMETRIS ECONOMIDES, MARIOS ECONOMIDES
2nd Honourable Mention	CHRYSANTHOS CHRYSANTHOU (CHR. CHRYSANTHOU and ASSOCIATES)
Special Prize	Α. KYPRIANOU & ASSOCIATES + MCA MARIO CUCCINELLA ARCHITECTS

The role of the Secretary of the Jury was undertaken by Vassos Olympios, Architect of the Campus Development Office / Technical Services.
