The new Priorities and Objectives of the General Educational Curriculum in Cyprus

This document is part of a presentation made during the first training seminar with the school headmasters in Cyprus (02/10/2012). This is meant to help them guide the implementation of action plans aimed towards the differentiation of teaching and learning, the development of critical thinking and the development of metacognitive skills' teaching. It briefly explains:

    • the fundamental pedagogic values, grounding the General Educational Curriculum in Cyprus
    • the basic concepts upon which the educational curriculum is built, and
    • the primary curriculum aims and objectives

 

A discussion of the positive and negative aspects of different in-service training programs

This document is part of a presentation made during the first training seminar with the school headmasters in Cyprus (02/10/2012). It is meant to guide the design and implementation of appropriate in-service teacher training practices at the school level. It also offers information about the following:

    • the four categories suggested by the EU for the evaluation of the teachers' in-service training programs' quality,
    • weaknesses of the educators'in-service training program in Cyprus and space for improvement, according to the Ministry's of Education Strategic plan
    • positive and negative aspects of the surveyed in-service training programs in the 75 finally selected articles during the first stage of the project RELEASE,
    • a list of quality criteria for quality in-service training both at the system's level and at the level of the school

 

Action Research: A tool helping teachers' professional development
