1. Earnings

The earnings include the gross salary which is contributed by the basic salary (see 1.1 below), general increases (see 1.2 below), cost-of-living allowance(see 1.3 below) as well as various other benefits and/or compensations and/or wage from research programs.

1.1 Basic Salary


The basic salary is determined by salary scales depending on the position held by the employee. The salary scales were modified with an amendment associated with salary scales Law in 2005 (N.50 (I)/ 2005). The salary scales are constants and change only with the approval of the House of Representatives.


1.2 General Increases


The percentage of general increases of salaries as from 1/1/2011 amounts to 6,656% and the minimum sum of increase is €880,69 annually or€73,39 monthly.The general Increases are granted with decision of the House of Representatives and they follow the increses that are granted in the Public Service.

1.3 Cost-Of-Living Allawance (COLA)

The COLA is revised every six months (1 January and 1 July). The percentage that is in effect for the half year period January to June 2011 is 26,24% (it is calculated on 1.1 and 1.2 abave) and the minimum limit of benefit amount is€3.160 annually or €263,33 monthly.
