Welcome to the website of the interdisciplinary programme of the University of Cyprus, entitled “The Spatiality and Materiality of Pilgrimage in Byzantine and Medieval Cyprus and Religious Networks in the Eastern Mediterranean (11th-16th century)”.
The Research Programme is funded by the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus (DIDAKTOR Programme), under the Research and Innovation Foundation Programmes for Research, Technological Development and Innovation “Restart 2016-2020”. The programme is conducted by the University of Cyprus (Archaeological Research Unit), with the participation of the Departement of Antiquities (Cyprus) and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism (Cyprus).
This three-year programme, labelled with the acronym SpaMaP Cy, started in December 2018 and will be completed in November 2021. The University of Cyprus acts as the Host Organisation.
