The main purpose of the psychology club is to promote the general science of psychology, both within the university community and the wider society. Also, we aim at collaboration with other clubs in order to create a pleasant student life that will provide beautiful experiences through a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
First, for the organization of the events there is a weekly meeting of the Council Club on the Activity Centre. Events can be in the form of lectures (this form is usually the most frequent), but can be made also in a more practical form (e.g.mental health and yoga, where yoga courses can be delivered) or combined lecture and practical event.
We have several ideas for future events, such as:
  • Intelligence
  • Emotions and Poetry
  • Creativity and Arts
  • Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosa
  • Body language
  • Influence of Religion on the psychological state of the individual
  • Workshop Cognitive Psychology
  • Pet Adoption and psychological impact
  • Meditation and yoga to mental health
  • Update for postgraduate and specializations in psychology
This year we already fulfill some of our ideas, which were:
  • Racism and Diversity
  • Stigma and mental illness
  • Social Anxiety
The goal of the event can be an educator through lectures, entertainment through various interactive events and excursions or charity. At the same time, it is not necessary that the events are directly related to psychology, they may be related indirectly where the central issues are not psychology disciplines (eg. Lecture on art àart therapy). Events can be organized by the members of the board, but can also be produced by the members themselves with the help of supervisors and of professional psychologists, such as psychology professors at the University or of other universities or independent professionals.
The promotion of the Club's events occur mainly via facebook, generating an event. Also, the club has a site on facebook to keep those interested informed à Όμιλος Ψυχολογίας Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Also, conducted via email and once via posters.
