    Η Αλεξία Παναγιώτου είναι αναπληρώτρια καθηγήτρια στο Τμήμα Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων και Δημόσιας Διοίκησης στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Συμπλήρωσε τις βασικές της σπουδές στα Οικονομικά και τις Πολιτικές Επιστήμες στο Πανεπιστήμιο Stanford των ΗΠΑ, από το οποίο κατέχει επίσης και μεταπτυχιακό δίπλωμα στη Διοικητική Επιστήμη. Είναι μεταπτυχιακός απόφοιτος της Σχολής Δημόσιας Πολιτικής του Πανεπιστημίου Harvard, γνωστή ως Kennedy School of Government, ενώ το διδακτορικό της, επίσης από το Πανεπιστήμιο Harvard, επικεντρώθηκε σε θέματα πολιτισμικής ψυχολογίας.

    Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου διδάσκει από το 2002. Η εξαιρετική της δουλειά στη διδασκαλία τιμήθηκε με έπαινο από το Πανεπιστήμιο το 2017, αφού προτάθηκε από τους προπτυχιακούς και μεταπτυχιακούς της φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες για το πρώτο Βραβείο Ποιοτικής Διδασκαλίας του Πανεπιστήμιου. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέρονται επικεντρώνονται γύρω από την αντιπροσώπευση του μάνατζμεντ και των μάνατζερς στη μαζική κουλτούρα (pop culture), το ρόλο του παράδοξου στην οργανωσιακή ζωή, τη σημασία του συμβολισμού και της γλώσσας στον οργανωσιακό χώρο και θέματα φύλου και εργασίας.  Η κ. Παναγιώτου έχει δημοσιεύσει την ερευνητική της δουλειά σε πολλά επιστημονικά περιοδικά του κλάδου των Οργανωσιακών Σπουδών αλλά και σε αρκετά βιβλία όπως φαίνονται πιο κάτω. Το άρθρο της «Τα Παράδοξα της Αλλαγής» (με το Γ. Κασίνη) πήρε το βραβείο της παγκόσμιας Ακαδημίας Διοίκησης (Academy of Management) για την καλύτερη ερευνητική εργασία σε θέματα οργανωσιακής αλλαγής. Η Δρ. Παναγιώτου διετέλεσε επίσης και ανεξάρτητη εμπειρογνώμονας της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής σε θέματα φύλου, εργασίας και κοινωνικού αποκλεισμού.

    Αντιπροσώπευση του μάνατζμεντ και των μάνατζερς στη μαζική κουλτούρα (pop culture), ο ρόλος του παράδοξου στην οργανωσιακή ζωή, η σημασία του συμβολισμού και της γλώσσας στον οργανωσιακό χώρο και θέματα φύλου και εργασίας.

    Alexia Panayiotou is an associate professor in the Department of Business and Public Administration at the University of Cyprus.  She has a Bachelor's and a Master's from Stanford University, a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and a doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard's Graduate School of Education.  Her research interests include the representation of management and organizations in popular culture; organizational space and symbolism; gender and work; feminist analysis of organizations; and visuality and organizational narratives. Her work has appeared, amongst others, in the Academy of Management Learning and Education, Management Learning, Strategic Organization, Organization, and the Journal of Management Inquiry.  Her article "Paradoxes of Change" (co-authored with G. Kassinis) received the 2016 Best Paper Award in the Academy of Management Organizational Development and Change division and was a finalist for the all-Academy Dexter Award.     Dr. Panayiotou is currently an Associate Editor of Management Learning. She has also served as Associate Editor of the European Management Review and has been on the Editorial Boards of the British Journal of Management and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. In 2017 Dr. Panayiotou was nominated by both graduate and undergraduate students for the first University of Cyprus Best Teacher award and received one of three prizes awarded. She is also currently serving on the Board of C4E, the University of Cyprus Center for Entrepreneurship.

    With extensive NGO experience both in Cyprus and the US, Dr. Panayiotou remains passionate about social change. She has served as the Cyprus expert in the European Commission’s Expert Group on Gender, Employment and Social Inclusion, an independent expert for the Mutual Learning Programme of the European Employment Strategy, and as a board member of the Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies. Dr. Panayiotou is a core member of the University of Cyprus Gender Studies program, where she teaches both MA and PhD students.

    Dr. Panayiotou is also a one of the first 100 core members of the global network Women Waging Peace and instrumental in setting up the first battered women’s center in Cyprus and its related hotline.
