Προσωπικό Προφίλ

Η Ελένη Νικηφόρου ανήκει στο Ειδικό Εκπαιδευτικό Προσωπικό του Κέντρου Γλωσσών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Διδάσκει Αγγλικά για Ακαδημαϊκούς Σκοπούς και Αγγλικά για Ειδικούς σκοπούς. Έχει εμπειρία ως επόπτης των μαθημάτων Αγγλικά Ακαδημαϊκούς Σκοπούς και Αγγλικά για Ειδικούς σκοπούς και ήταν συντονίστρια του Αγγλικού τομέα από το 2014 μέχρι το 2016.

Έχει αναπτύξει προγράμματα σπουδών για Αγγλικά για Ειδικούς Σκοπούς. Έχει έντονη ερευνητική δραστηριότητα στο τομέα της εκπαιδευτικής τεχνολογίας και της διδασκαλίας της Αγγλικής γλώσσας. Επίσης έχει παραστεί και παρουσιάσει εργασίες της τόσο σε τοπικά όσο και σε διεθνή συνέδρια. Επιπρόσθετα έχει συμμετάσχει σε δύο Ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα: VocTEL και IntlUni. Είναι πολύ ενεργή στην εκπαίδευση των εκπαιδευτικών και στην επαγγελματική ανάπτυξη. 

Έχει πτυχίο Αγγλικής Γλώσσας και Φιλολογίας, 2001, από το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, Ελλάδα  και μεταπτυχιακό MΑ στην Εκπαιδευτική Τεχνολογία και Διδασκαλία της Αγγλικής Γλώσσας, 2005, από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Μάντσεστερ, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Είναι υποψήφια διδάκτωρ στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Λάνκαστερ στο τομέα E-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning. 

Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τη Διδασκαλία των Αγγλικών ως ξένης γλώσσας, Απόκτηση της Δεύτερης Γλώσσας, Αγγλικά για Ειδικούς Σκοπούς, Εκπαιδευτική Τεχνολογία, Ηλεκτρονική Εκμάθηση Γλωσσών, Μικτή Μάθηση, Ηλεκτρονική Μάθηση, Εκπαίδευση Εκπαιδευτικών, Δια βίου Μάθηση, Ανοικτοί Εκπαιδευτικοί Πόροι, Ανάπτυξη Προγραμμάτων Σπουδών και Αξιολόγηση στην Αγγλική Γλώσσα.

 

Her research interests include Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Second Language Acquisition, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Instructional Technology, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Blended Learning, Online Learning, Teacher Training, Lifelong Learning, Open Educational Resources (OER), Curriculum Development, and Language Assessment.

Profile Information

Eleni Nikiforou is an English language instructor at the Language Centre of the University of Cyprus where she teaches English for Academic purposes (EAP) courses as well as English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses. She has been a supervisor for EAP and ESP courses and was the English section coordinator from 2014 to 2016. 

She is involved in curriculum design for English for Specific Purposes courses. She is involved in numerous research projects involving the implementation of Instructional Technology in English Language Teaching. She has presented and participated in local and international conferences. She has also worked in two European projects: VocTEL and IntlUni. She is also very active in teacher training and professional development. 

She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and a Masters Degree in Educational Technology and English Language Teaching from the University of Manchester, Manchester, United Kingdom. She is currently a PhD candidate in the area of E-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University, Lancaster, United Kingdom.
