Research is one of the priorities of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This is entirely in line with the University's status as a research institution. The research activity of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering covers all the traditional disciplines of Civil and Environmental Engineering:

  • structural and earthquake engineering
  • building materials
  • construction management
  • geotechnical engineering
  • transportation systems
  • computer-aided civil engineering
  • hydraulics and fluid mechanics
  • waste management
  • water resources management
  • environmental pollution

Furthermore, the Department strives to integrate aspects of sustainability in the built environment, environmental health, infrastructure management, construction law and energy efficiency in its academic programs and research directions. The CEE Department also enjoyed considerable success in attracting research funding. Most of this funding came from external sources, including the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, UNESCO and the European Union, while a small part came from internal university funding assigned on a competitive basis. Information about current research project can be found here.
